Customer Support To Your Hosting Clients

Customer Support To Your Hosting Clients

I have explained in other articles that for a hosting company to be successful, it must provide good customer service. I know from experience how annoying it can be for a guest when their host doesn't have a good support system. Many customers expect quick answers to support questions, and if you don't provide them, you could lose customers.

For a hosting company to be successful, it must be able to attract new customers to its services and retain old ones. A web host can build a large customer base in just a few months, and its difficult task is to retain customers.

types of support services

There are many different ways a host can provide customer service to their guests. I have listed some below:

  1. Email support
  2. Telephone
  3. Technical support service
  4. Live Chat
  5. Database

Many hosting providers now also offer 24/7 support. Any new hosting provider should consider offering 24/7 customer support. This support service can be expensive to run, but many customers expect 24-hour support.

Email support

This is a simple email support system. This can be a slow form of communication if, for example, the host or guest only checks their email every hour. I recommend providing an email address that customers can use to contact support.

Telephone

Many hosting companies offer telephone support, but not all customers use this method to contact the host. If the host can answer the phone every time they call, this can be a very quick way to answer guests' questions. The cost of telephone services can be relatively low unless a toll-free number is provided. This type of support is not necessary if the host offers other effective contact options.

Technical support service

I would recommend any new host to invest in a help desk. This can combine email support, FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions), knowledge base, and articles and also allows all answers to be logged online.
Basically, when a customer needs support, they log in to the helpdesk, create a ticket, and if a support agent is available, they can access the question (ticket) and respond by line. After the system processes the response, the customer usually receives an email.
The benefits of a help desk mean that the host can typically add an unlimited number of departments and support staff, meaning the hosting company can benefit from an external support option where another company can answer support questions if necessary.
The software required can range from nothing to around $1,000, with many of them having the same functionality. I recommend that you hire your web host for a support service, but before you invest in one, shop around and make sure you buy one that meets your needs.

Live Chat

Almost all internet users have used some form of instant messaging. That's what live chat is all about providing support staff and customers with a platform to chat over the internet in real-time.

This is a very useful support service that can also be economical. There are many live chat services available in the region. I recommend shopping again.

Database

You can provide an online question-and-answer section with frequently asked questions. This can prevent different customers from contacting support with the same questions, which can be time-consuming and, frankly, annoying.
I recommend providing this type of support as it will save you time and money in the long run and is very easy to set up.

Hole

The online forum offers your customers a platform where they can get in touch with each other and ask questions. Providing a forum can reduce the number of help requests you receive each month because another member can offer help.

An example of an online hosting forum is Web Hosting Complete (http://www.whcomplete.com). This forum provides free hosting tutorials and articles to its members. Web Hosting Complete does not sell hosting services itself. So if you as a host are not willing to provide a forum for your customers, you should consider linking to such a website. Since the forum site doesn't sell hosting, there shouldn't be much competition, and you use the site because it offers free support to your customers.

Providing good customer service may cost money, but I think it's worth it because satisfied customers generate more sales.
